Meet Latasha!

Latonja has worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 25 years and spent the last 3 of those years employed at CSL Plasma *(Please see the footnote at the bottom of the page). That is pretty amazing! We took the time to ask her a few questions about her experience as a nurse. Read on to learn more about Latonja’s incredible career.

Q: What Made you Decide to Become a Nurse?

“From a very young age, I have always felt a deep sense of fulfillment in nurturing and caring for others. Growing up, I was profoundly inspired by my grandmother, who spent over 40 years in the nursing profession. I had the privilege of watching her dedicate her life to caring for people with compassion, and it was through her that I first discovered my own passion for nursing. Her commitment, empathy, and tireless work ethic left an indelible mark on me, and I realized that nursing wasn't just a career, but a calling. It became clear to me that taking care of others is not only something I enjoy, but it's also part of who I am at my core. I couldn't imagine pursuing any other path in life because nursing is where my heart is, and I feel a profound sense of purpose in providing comfort and support to those in need.”

Q: What is Your Favorite Thing About Being a Nurse?

“My favorite thing about being a nurse is witnessing the remarkable transformation of people as they recover, knowing that my skills, combined with the God-given gift I have been blessed with, play a vital role in their healing journey.”

Q: What Would You Tell Others Who are Considering a Career in Nursing?

“Nursing is truly a profession of the heart, where the education and training are just the foundation for something much deeper. Without a genuine compassion for others, it becomes merely a job rather than a fulfilling and joyful career. The real reward comes from connecting with people, offering care that goes beyond clinical skills, and finding meaning in the ability to make a positive impact on someone's life.”

To Nurses Everywhere, Thank You

National Nurses Week is a great opportunity to shed some light on the dedication of those committed to the nursing profession. Thank you for all that you do, keep being amazing!
